I finished a project!!! (And there was much rejoicing…yaaaaaaay.) This weekends challenge was to learn something new. I started off trying a new pattern for a washcloth. It creates the most gorgeous texture…but I ran into a problem. Try as I might, I couldn’t get it to make nice & neat rows. After the umpteenth try, I moved on to a new pattern, because I knew if I didn’t I’d never finish! I posted about my attempts on Facebook, and 2 friends took a look at the pattern for me. As it turns out, I was doing the last step of the row incorrectly. Oops! Lesson learned.
So the next thing I tried was a Lion Brand pattern for a cowl. I’ve never crocheted in the round, and I’ve never done a pattern that instructed you not to turn at the end of the row. 2 new things!
It took me a while, because the baby is teething again and he wants lots of snuggles. Plus I kept losing count..and then I’d correct course, only for one of the kids to come ask a question, and I’d get derailed again. I’m hoping that with experience comes the ability to crochet through potential distractions!
I absolutely adore the little gold threads in this yarn! I used Caron Simply Soft Party in Chocolate Sparkle, in case you’re interested. Normally I’m a silver sort of girl, but the gold just enhanced the brown beautifully. I want to make another one, but doubled so that I can wear it hooded.
How’d your weekend challenge go? Did you make something new, or learn a new skill? Tell me all about it!
